Civilian Firearms classes are offered by the Elmore County Sheriff's Office. The classes are generally held twice a year at the Elmore County Firing Range. Classes are conducted by certified firearms instructors and attendees receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Participants receive a legal issues class, firearms nomenclature class, hands on firearms fundamentals class and are allowed to shoot on the firing range. Applicants are required to submit to a background check prior to attending the class. Applications may be obtained from the Sheriff's Office or printed from this website and submitted to Administrative personnel at the Sheriff's Office. Applicants are treated on a first-come-first-serve basis and are contacted when classes are available.
